2021 – A Year of Kindness
The festive season is almost behind us, as is 2020, a year that has challenged and changed us in many ways. However we have been impacted by the events of 2020 one thing is for sure, we have all had to adapt. Whether it is us adapting to working differently or a new socially distanced way of being, having to keep apart from our loved ones, it has been difficult.
We have had to adapt and this has been the only constant.
Adaptation often feels difficult, especially when we are conscious of having to acknowledge the change and then having to adapt to it. I often wonder how regularly we have all made changes and adaptations without us doing so consciously. The human psyche is truly remarkable and whether we realise it or not, we have all made changes often without doing so consciously.
I ask myself, how often do we recognise the changes we made and continue to make and whether these have been conscious or unconscious. Does this help or hinder our abilities to cope with change?
No matter how any of us have adapted, we need to acknowledge that we have and this has inevitably had an impact on us all. As we enter 2021, my wish and hope is for us all to think about making this year the year of kindness. Being kind to others, giving space and time to those that seek it from us and enable us to become more open and giving.
Being kind to yourself is also critical, not being too harsh, setting challenging but realistic goals and most importantly not to be too self-critical when we don’t achieve these for whatever reason. Looking after ourselves both physically and mentally will also enable us to see in the changes as they evolve.
Who knows what 2021 holds ahead but let’s be ready for them and hope they are positive and enlightening for us all.
Here’s to a hopeful, safe and healthy 2021 for all!
